Model Behaviour with Chloe Lloyd

Chloe Lloyd has got to be one of the nicest models... not that I know many models, but we've spoken via twitter and email a few times (modern world hey!) and she has a sense of wit and humour that comes across in bounds on her instagram and twitter accounts. Signed to Storm model management with her flowing wavy locks and Bardot-esque blonde bombshell vibe which was just begging for me to draw her.

I recently got the chance to ask her some questions for By Jaymie which she happily answered and gave us some insight into the kind of life she leads and her modelling background, as well as the all important questions that involve 
chocolate...

How long have you been modelling for? 

 I've been doing bits of modelling since I was about 16, but when i took the plunge and went full time i was 18 years old. I went to College first and started straight after. 

With your job you must travel a lot, Where's the best location you've been sent for work?

I do indeed! I've been lucky enough to go to so many amazing and beautiful locations. My favourites are definitely the tropical places with beaches... I lived in Miami for a few months at the end of last year so I'm going to have to say there just because it has a special place in my heart! I have great friends and memories there and love that beach...

Do you have a dream designer or brand you would love to model for? 

I'm not sure really... I don't want to be cliche and say Victoria's Secret but that would be pretty fun... Or a casual Chanel campaign. Y'know, the standard model wants!

Tips for any aspiring models or people wishing to get into a similar industry? 

Go for it! Its hard work and isn't the glam fun easy life that its made out to be. You have to graft but everybody's experience is different. It is a tough industry...  but its also a LOT of fun. I've met amazing people, learnt so much and travelled the world and I didn't think I was model material at all! 

Do you have a strict exercise/ diet regime/ skin care tips?

I get asked this a lot and I feel awful when i say no. I don't have a diet and never have... nor do i reeeaally exercise. (Which i should as my body is my career) I'm lucky enough to be naturally slim and not need to diet. That does not however mean I eat badly.. I believe in a healthy diet but also eating what you want too. I make sure my body has enough fruit and veg then I scoff a massive chocolate bar haha! I love food...

What's your treat food that you can't say no to?

Definitely chocolate. My faves are Galaxy and Maltesers... yummmm

Three items you can't leave the house without? 

My phone, bank card and tangle teezer! Boring....

Favourite icon?

Definitely Bardot... Shes an iconic blonde but was also cool as hell. I diggg that! 

What do you enjoy doing in your down time/ time off?

My free time is usually spent shopping, lazing around, out for dinners in London or hanging out in the pub with mates ! Love.

By Jaymie loves Novella Afterglow

I decided that a new blog series dedicated to some all important lady love was in order. To show that we girls, can be supportive, build one another up, show love and be kind. It's important for us to be a community and appreciate others. Sometimes in this day and age it's easy to forget that people deserve to be praised and that it's important to show those who inspire you, that they are awesome! So put on your platforms and wear some pigtails because we're about to get some girl power...

Lauren from Novella Afterglow might have one of the best faces I've ever seen. She embodies that natural beauty, inside and out.  I pretty much girl crushed on her from the very beginning when I saw she had a shared affinity for the 1960s era, Mens clothes, Breton stripes and sparkle. Not only that but her blog is an absolute treasure trove of all things great, personal style, festivals, pretty places and shopping. She recently just had her pretty locks chopped into a chic little bob and it really makes me want to go for the Lily Collins cut that I've been eyeing up for a while. I'm also eager to get Lauren to come down to London and do some modelling for a Jewellery by Jaymie look book that I'm planning because I think she would just be pretty perfect for it. Lauren you might just be my blogger soul mate.

Orla Kiely

Yesterday morning at approximately 9.45, when I opened my emails and saw a last minute invite to the Orla presentation... I can't pretend that I wasn't a little bit (a lot) sad. I was tucked up in bed with my raspy throat and streaming nose even if I could have made it in time, it wouldn't have been pretty. I was an eager beaver to feast my eyes upon these delights as soon as I could. 

Orla Kiely is one of my favourite designers and can imagine wearing every single piece of clothing she designs, they are so wearable, chic and classic, plus no one does a coat quite like Orla. The navy, pink and subtle hints of yellow are appealing to me a whole heap and the beautifully structured cigarette pants and cat print turtle necks are on my list of how I would want to look like roaming the streets of Paris.

I spend my days in a dreamy haze

Had a lovely wake up call this morning... a spider crawling across my duvet. HORROR. Anyways a little update type of post to let you all in some of the goings on happening right now. 

- I started reading The Great Gatsby towards the end of December and it's just got me daydreaming of 1920s America, the society, whiskey sours and cavorting in dance halls. 

- Making and finishing some jewellery orders and commissions.

-Changed my room around again, to give me more room near my desks, as I love to work on the floor, I spread out everywhere, paint, paper... what a mess (hence my heinous 80s carpet, perfect for bedroom/ studio) 

-Vogue, pastel trend definitely one of my favourites.

New illustration over on Made from the Stars of Lena Del Raye. I took my inspiration from Titania in 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' and I like to think of it as Barbie on acid. So glitzy and with the pastel shades, it might induce a cotton candy induced sickness.

Last week I submitted a piece of work to Collate presents Mullitover an exhibition in Brighton and it got accepted so starting from a private viewing tomorrow my 'Many sides of Twiggy' illustration will be part of a weekly exhibition.

St Valentines

Love Illustrated style commission.

With valentines fast approaching... I know, already the 10th January (crazy!)  I thought it would be worthwhile to post about possible valentine commissions as a present. Ideal for newly married, engaged or just an extra special valentines gift of a love illustrated style piece or a portrait for the both of you to cherish.

She's in fashion

Company Magazine illustration submission.

A couple of people said that they would like to see what I illustrations I ended up doing and submitting to the Company competition. I illustrated my favourite dress of in my opinion one of the best and more enchanting of s/s shows for 2012 Louis Vuitton. Along with an accesory thats I see being a must have, I decided for me this is the 'doctor bag' because I want one SO bad and in particular a monochromatic doctor bag, yum. Along with these two illustrations I had to pick three of my best pieces or that show what my style is about and I picked my Elizabeth Taylor, Alexa pattern and Frassy. As I thought this pretty much summed up my work and what I like and can do, I love black and white, watery, drippy portraits, love to use pattern in my work but also love doing fashion/ people illustrations and more realistic looking outfits.

 I also really want to enter the National Portrait Gallery competition but the entry fee is £35 and I haven't really any money to spare right now as all money I am earning is being sent straight back out to pay off LA and other things, so heres a little plea haha please go check out the items in my shop and if you buy anything you are helping me maybe reach the entry fee and actually enter!

I hope everyone is fine and hasn't been blown away by the wind, I had to talk bout the weather I'm british after all...

the Vintage Tea Party book

This was one of the inspiring books that I received for christmas from my Brother's Girlfriend. I had seen it a few times before and had  flicked through it and thought how beautiful and how very 'me' it was with all it's talk of tea, cake, making, illustration and vintage but I never actually put it on my list as with my absent mind I totally didn't think to.

I'll be back with a christmas photo, summary and catch up type post real soon I'm just being far to lazy, lethargic and to busy stuffing my face to upload photos and write a proper paragraph #standardchristmastime so instead i will let little saint nick kitty illustration grace the pages of my blog and a promise to be back soon.
