What to do on a bank holiday?

With a another bank holiday weekend here (YASSS!) already one day down but still two to go (for most people, I hope all of you but sadly probably not the case) that extra day to extend the weekend really is an absolute corker… a shorter week ahead and a Tuesday that feels like a Monday. Here's some of my favorite ways to spend my time, so if you're at a loss of what to do then read on and see if any of my suggestions float your boat.

Visit somewhere pretty...

Petersham Nurseries
A visit to Richmond park earlier in the year to see a wedding venue we came across this great garden centre with a beautiful tea room and even vegan cake. Kill two birds with one stone (not literally, please!) and visit the park and try spotting the deer that roam free - they can come pretty close to you as well, so cameras ready!

Make something tasty...

If the weathers pants (which is highly likely on a BH, although this week has had some scorchers) then why not get your oven mitts on and use your morning productively to give these vegan baked donuts a whirl or some chocolate peanut butter cupcakes.

See a show...
I recently saw An American in Paris at the Dominion and it was a sheer delight from start to finish. Ballet, show tunes, astounding stage designs and the most beautiful orchestra. Tickets can be found for Bank Holiday Monday for approx £18.50 on amazon tickets.

Watch an old movie or a blockbuster...
Grab some pic'n'mix and go to a fun cinema. I'm thinking along the lines of  Everyman or The Prince Charles in Leicester square which show a variety of old movies, back to back and themed evenings.

Go for brunch...

This one doesn't need much of an explanation now does it? So many places to chose from. I enjoyed these savoury courgette pancakes at Bourne and Hollingsworth and the design of the place really is a bit of a dream boat.

Plan a trip or get-away...
Whether it be a little stay-cation night at a hotel, or a city escape. Why not grab your notebook and get planning. We're going to New York in September so I will be writing up must do's, sees and eats!

Head to the seaside...

If the weather stays nice for long enough then a visit to the seaside may well just be on the agenda. Two of my absolute favorite places are seaside towns, Brighton and Margate. Slap on that sun cream and make the most of the sunshine Vitamin D.

Be civilised at a Gallery...

If the weather is rubbish (looking at you weather app, waaa) a leisurely look around a *free* gallery can pass the time just nicely, as well as a visit to the tea room. Walking around the Wallace Collection by myself is one of my favourite ways to unwind or have some 'me' time to think or to just not think.
