jaymie loves brighton part one

I've been spending more time in Brighton recently, seeking out delicious food with my partner in crime, fun bars and cute shops. We spent the weekend only couple of weeks ago soaking up the sun albeit brief and overcast mostly but it was one of the most fun, Brighton is just somewhere I know I could never get bored of (You may have seen my recent photo diary from The Great Escape) It's only about a 50 minute drive away from us and we've made a little promise that we should at least try to visit once a month, but there might be evening summer trips for dinner and walks on the pebbles to come.

This place just oozes cool, from the crazy looking ceilings comprised of black board menus, tiles, and eclectic light fixtures BUT the coolest part about Hope & Ruin is the array of different vegan hot dogs and loaded fries that they dish up. The chilli-cheese fries and sauerkraut dog are honestly just too darn good. Cruelty free fast food, what's not to love? Not only that but they also have a gig venue upstairs which hosts lots of live music evenings and bands.

Bring your own vinyl, enjoy some beer and chow down on pizza, sounds pretty great, huh? Well that's what Dead Wax Social brings to the table! With cute little nooks and crannies perfect for date nights, fun tables that are actually Miss Pacman computer games - you can play a game for 50p whilst sipping on your drink.

I visit this place every time I'm in Brighton, pretty much without fail. It is one of the best organic/health food stores (waaaay better then Whole Foods, just sayin'!)  in the South. They have a great selection of Vegan chocolate and sweets which excites me the most, plus you feel really good knowing you're shopping in an independent business.

The smell of this shop is that of new books and printed paper, there's something about that smell (when it's good quality) that I just love. Seeing all the different publications and taking in all the different covers, the art work and articles. Whether you want to purchase or just take in the small yet beautifully set up shop, it is well worth having a snoop in.
