I've been watching the documentary drama series on Versailles on Iplayer after seeing the 2nd episode on Wednesday. it's pretty interesting, full of french renaissance style, very marie antoinette, decadent and debauchery filled. If you like the films Casanova, Marie Antoinette and Vanity fair or any period piece dramas I recommend checking it out. Funnily enough Shana Elle commented on this post about the program.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I'm intending on trying to work a 9-5 sort of day as my work pattern/ sleep is pretty erratic thought I'd try structure my hours more. I seriously can't wait to 'Take Me Out' tonight after last weeks cringe - awkward - dick head of a guy who totally messed up and ended up taking a girl who liked him initially and ended up hating him (you'll know who I mean if you saw it - otherwise ITV player, tv gold!) When it's this cold outside I just want to be on my sofa with blankets, tea and comfort food in the evenings.

My nails are currently glitz personified, Models Own Antique Rose, white irrediscet glitter powder with purple pink glitter shards. My new old leather jacket (modelling for my friend Sally in this photo) which I purchased off Ebay. I couldn't be happier with it, cost me all of £7 and thats including the delivery! If you know me, you'll know I've been on the hunt for the 'perfect' leather jacket for quite some time. When I was doing my usual ebay peruse I came across this bad boy and thought I would take the chance and I'm so glad I did. I've had this khaki green wolly hat since last winter and I still love it, perfect throwing on other shoddy hair and making an outfit that bit more 90s grunge, kurt cobain look to it.

Super boring, weather appropriate, layer and bundle up clumpy mess of a winter look. Eclectic mix of patterns, textures and materials. This was a particular cold day in London, after a night out so a little worse for wear and aching muscles. Comfort was key, hair up and snuggly clothes. This is my favourite bag right now it is another beautiful vintage bag inherited from my Grandmothers collection.

Woke up nice and early this morning to attend another tax workshop class. Got ready and left the house at 8.50 to discover I had missed it but 2 days, luckily I had only stepped out of the front door and thought I'd take a look at the letter... I really am a massive wolly!

In the land of Narnia

Waking up this morning to a blue and white toned glow seeping into my room (I rarely close my curtains) feeling so cosy all tucked in under my winter duvet and feeling rather excited with the Narnia looking view from my bedroom window. I love snow and how it makes everything look extra pretty. I obtain the view that I love it until it ruins plans and people getting to and from places, which is annoying but for a Sunday spent in doors warm and cosy this weather is pretty much perfect. I did act the child earlier and venture into the garden to make a snowman and have a little snow ball fight, followed by hot chocolate to warm up my cold dead hands and watching New In Town which is an ideal film to watch whilst looking out to the now deplenshing snow.

It's freezing, it's Feburary, so naturally my mind is drifting to warmer climes and sun drenched tones. Summer for me naturally means 70s visionary with all the festivals, drinking in fields, scattered freckles, hair braids, feathers, bracelets and californian waves. Inspiration comes in film material of Almost Famous, Josie and the Pussycats and Lords of Dogtown. I've been tumbr-ing lots of images that are filling my mind and trying to absorb every detail so that I can effectively daydream and disappear into a flower scented, bird singing and ice tea drinking world.

Rubbish photos but night sky constellation nails using little stars from Ebay I can't find exactly ones that I bought but Ebay has lots of different ones listed. I'm after these plain black ones and these bows for nail art and possibly adding to some dapper cat necklaces.

I'm attending a HMRC tax workshop tomorrow for the newly self employed which I set up just before Christmas to attend, as I could do with all the help I can receive regarding the confusing, number, spreadsheets, record keeping, tax paying etc... so as fun and exciting as it sounds, I'm pretty sure it will be helpful and I'll be an eager beaver student with my notebook and pen at the ready.

Heading to the cinema tonight to see War Horse. I may as well take up residence for the month as there's so many good films coming out. Woman in black, Extremely loud and incredibly close and young adult are some of the movies on my to see list.

Lock it up

My ukulele that I ordered last week arrived and I am literally in love with it. I've saved lots of youtube videos to try and teach myself. Some of the new materials that I ordered to make jewellery with also arrived in the post so I've been making some new pieces. Today is the last day to receive 15% on all orders by using the discount code '15' I've added two new items as well including a sparkly gold bow necklace and a 'Jadore' text necklace with dangling heart. I also will be adding the cameos tonight as well.

Been feeling a little lacklustre on the nail art front. I use to do my nails crazy and fun a couple of times a week and since working from home I haven't as much. I need to get myself some new clear polish as I have stars and glitter that I want to do some designs with. Vicky's blog inspired me with all her different designs on each nail for these eclectic mix on my fingers.

Anyone catch the last episode of American Horror Story on FX last night? I can't wait for the next season but I hope they don't drag it out to far and make it like Desperate Housewives.

Chinese New Year, Fortune cookie, John Frieda goodies, Green tea and smoothies, Sewing machine, Crystals, Charm necklace that I've made for myself.

- This week I got my sewing machine out of its rather dusty hibernation to make a bag out of an old brownies jumper, I bought it from Ebay, when I was about 16 and thought I was a cool emo grunge vintage hipster (as you do) and I did love it but I haven't worn it as a jumper in years so thought i'd make it into a shopper bag.

- I received some lovely goodies from John Frieda this week thanks to Jilly who sent them over. The 'go blonder' spray is seriously a saviour. You might remember me posting about it last year? Loving the volume spray as well which I've been using since I received the products.

- Bought some new materials including wolf charms and crystals to get crafty with some new pieces for my shop.

I was meant to be going to the ZOMGbloggersbash tomorrow night for the launch of the new rockalilly lipstick tomorrow but unfortunately I had a very social, fun weekend and has left me with lack of money, time and lots of work to do. Least I will be in to watch the last episode of American Horror Story (nerdy silver lining and all that)

This one is for Olivia (she said i could blog post it - so it's a okay aha) I'm doing them for a special price of £15 and they came A5 sized either landscape or portrait on high quality cartridge paper. Once Valentines day has been and gone you are left with a 'love illustrated' style piece that can be framed or put up.

luminous intensity

Finally got my hands on Vera Wang princess. When I use to work in perfumery this would be one of my regular go to sprays and obviously since not working there I've been using my own perfume more so they're going down a lot quicker. I'm a fan of sweet, floral and fresh scents. I also love pretty bottles to adorn my sides. These are my three favourite perfumes Marc Jacobs Daisy (my favourite bottle) my new Vera Wang Princess and Jimmy Choo (not the prettiest bottle!) Daisy is floral and rather spring/ summery like, makes me envision walks through forests, picnics in fields with flowers in your hair and breeze running through it. Princess is sweet and particularly girly and Jimmy Choo is a warmer, sweet scent which has toffee and patchouli undertones. What's your favourite or signature scent?

You can also spot my lovely Chanel print from Helen which i received just before Christmas when we sent each other little gift and my print of Audrey Hepburn with her pet deer by Kerri-Ann which was part of an art swap.

As you can see from the first photo which was taken on Monday my fringe needed a cut but the ends are starting to get lighter and this photo made my hair look super long (i wish!) my friend who I use to work with came over Monday night to drop me off something and for a catch up, she also use to be a hairdresser so I got her to bring her scissors and give me a full fringe. It feels so much better right now, it sits better middle parted as well as full fringe.

I've been wearing my Hooters top today which is one of my favourites, it makes me think of New York and fun times. I'm off out to see W.E. in a minute, has anyone seen it yet? The only thing making me dubious is Madonna being the director...

Been having a pretty lazy weekend my best friend came around on Friday for a cheap, movie and munch night in and yesterday was my Dads birthday so had cake (Guinness chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting which my sister made, so good!) and an Indian take away, standard procedure. Other then that I've pretty much felt like sleeping as I've no energy, time of month and all that, sometimes it sucks to be a girl... candles, bubble bath and hot water bottle are a god send though. I have been busy listing lots of things on Ebay though, it really is a pain and a blessing at the same time. It's free listing weekend so I've been busy listing lots of clothes, shoes and accessories, such a long process though, wah.

A few days ago John Frieda contacted me with interest of working with my blog this year. Considering that I use John Frieda products it seems quite a fitting collaboration (the go blonder range was a saviour for any ombre brassiness I had last year!) They've got quite a lot of exciting things going on this year including blogger events, new product launches and campaigns.

They've recently just launched a you tube channel one of my favourite styles is the 'messy updo' and I decided I would give it a go myself. The style is very 'me' slightly beehive-like and 60s unkempt feel to it. Plus it's super easy and quick, I took some photo booth shots of the results of the front, side and back. What do you lovelys think? Ignore my awkward face!

What's everyone up to today? I'm currently residing in bed after making my Dad a birthday fry up and burning my finger, not the smoothest of moves. Got killer girl cramps right now so watching Richie Rich and catching up on blog stuff.

sea salted dreads, plaits and feathers

As most of you will know I've started the dip dye process once again by balayaging my hair on monday. Right now it's at a coppery/ dark blonde/ light brown/ ginger stage. But it's will on it's way to hippy surfer hair for this summer once more. hurrah. Just a little more dead and worse for wear though (boo bleach) my hair was pretty good condition before as I don't use too much heat on it but I rarely condition my hair as I'm a fan of the matte hair look, hence why dry shampoo is a daily occurrence. I'm definitely intending on regularly conditioning my hair to improve on the condition and strength of it.

I have fine feather heads to thank for the beautiful extension that is doning my locks right now. After tweeting about some missing feather extensions (not from them but from ebay) I ordered they were quick to contact me and offered to send me some. I got sent this pretty purple & grizzly feather and a brown toned one also. I'm craving the quill clips and tail extensions as well. Why can't my whole head be full with feathers? Maybe because then I would be a bird... but hey you know what I mean.

Yesterday I met my friend in London for some pure unadulterated orange wednesday advantage taking. We saw My week with Marilyn and The Artist (yes two films, hardcore \m/) We both had a code each and only cinemas seem to be uptown that are showing Marilyn and The Artist right now. They were both really good, very inspiring and engrossing. Michelle Williams really is an incredible Marilyn and looks so uncanny she really captures a nervous, vulnerable and lonely Marilyn so well. The Artist really is worth all the amazing reviews it's been getting, very clever, witty and nostalgic. Both completely my cup of tea. Anyone else seen both or either of the films? What did you think, let's have a movie geek out talk!

Today I need to get a crack on and finish my secret 7 submission I'm creating it for the Florence and the machine design, will share it with you all once it is uploaded!

Californian Mermaid

Too early to think about summer looks? Course not! Well not just the hair look I want for summer right now but I kind of have my persona ready that I want to embody for the sunnier months (hopeful!) a 1970s califorian hippy surfer mermaid hybrid. Isabel Lucas meets Rusalochka. Last summer when I had ombre hair I was obsessed with getting pastel colours running through it and I got my hairdresser to try putting turquoise, lilac and baby pink in my hair, It only lasted about 2 weeks unfortunately as it wasn't permanent but something just keeps drawing me back to these images and pretty colours running through hair. Theres something in particular drawing me to the 3rd picture the vivid bright pink and bold eyebrows I'm pretty enamoured with. Would you or have you ever gone such a vivid bright colour?

I'm actually balayaging my hair today. I'm just bored of my hair, seems to be a pretty constant thing within me. As I said I want mermaid, californian, hippy hair even though my hair doesnt seem to grow all that long or look that great long - annoying! 'I'm expecting it to be quite coppery as my hair is dark right now. They don't seem to sell Loreal colour experte anymore?! Which is how I initially started to lighten and ombre my hair about three years ago, Then I moved on to the Loreal perfect blonde creme to make it blonder. But this time I've had to go straight for the perfect blonde creme so wish me luck guys!

Serotonin, your burning a hole into my heart.

How pretty is this sunset? I love when you see dusk set in and pinky, purple and peach hues illuminate the sky. This is the view from my bedroom window, we have the biggest tree ever that pretty much casts a shadow over the whole garden. Bit of a pain in the summer when trying to bask in the sunshine and you have to chase it.

Some things I found out last week....

- Reading a book whilst peddling on the exercise bike, makes me do it for a lot longer!

- Blue Valentine is a really good film but is pretty depressing

- I love working at night and seems to be when I'm most creative

-Sometimes a Chinese take-away is just what you needed

This week I need to...

Jaclyn from Audrey Grace Boutique recently got in contact with me via twitter to enquire about some of my pieces and commissioning a necklace and bracelet to stock in her shop. I was very excited to create some unique one off jewellery for her, as you would probably guess something called 'Audrey Grace' boutique is well up my street.

I have read Jaclyn's blog for quite a while. It was first came to my attention when I saw on Kerri-Anne Hulmes blog that she had created some illustrations for the shop (which I now own after a art mail swap with her which I still need to blog about!) I spend my days in a dreamy haze

Had a lovely wake up call this morning... a spider crawling across my duvet. HORROR. Anyways a little update type of post to let you all in some of the goings on happening right now.

- I started reading The Great Gatsby towards the end of December and it's just got me daydreaming of 1920s America, the society, whiskey sours and cavorting in dance halls.

- Making and finishing some jewellery orders and commissions.

-Changed my room around again, to give me more room near my desks, as I love to work on the floor, I spread out everywhere, paint, paper... what a mess (hence my heinous 80s carpet, perfect for bedroom/ studio)

-Vogue, pastel trend definitely one of my favourites.

New illustration over on Made from the Stars of Lena Del Raye. I took my inspiration from Titania in 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' and I like to think of it as Barbie on acid. So glitzy and with the pastel shades, it might induce a cotton candy induced sickness.

Last week I submitted a piece of work to Collate presents Mullitover an exhibition in Brighton and it got accepted so starting from a private viewing tomorrow my 'Many sides of Twiggy' illustration will be part of a weekly exhibition.

Company Magazine illustration submission.

A couple of people said that they would like to see what I illustrations I ended up doing and submitting to the Company competition. I illustrated my favourite dress of in my opinion one of the best and more enchanting of s/s shows for 2012 Louis Vuitton. Along with an accesory thats I see being a must have, I decided for me this is the 'doctor bag' because I want one SO bad and in particular a monochromatic doctor bag, yum. Along with these two illustrations I had to pick three of my best pieces or that show what my style is about and I picked my Elizabeth Taylor, Alexa pattern and Frassy. As I thought this pretty much summed up my work and what I like and can do, I love black and white, watery, drippy portraits, love to use pattern in my work but also love doing fashion/ people illustrations and more realistic looking outfits.

I also really want to enter the National Portrait Gallery competition but the entry fee is £35 and I haven't really any money to spare right now as all money I am earning is being sent straight back out to pay off LA and other things, so heres a little plea haha please go check out the items in my shop and if you buy anything you are helping me maybe reach the entry fee and actually enter!

These photos are pretty much the images that are filling my mind and eyes with inspiring notions for jewellery designs and illustrations. Ballerinas, body shapes, dancers, feathers, dream catchers, carnival, wolves, woodland animals... cats, sparkle and flowers as standard really.

I've already started working towards my goals. I entered the Company magazine illustration competion at the last minute on Monday only saw the call out today and the competition ended yesterday. I don't think I have any chance of being shortlisted or winning as don't think my style will fit in with what they look for, I think they love their digital art and I'm not so much a fan of that... but as my goal says it's all experience and builds up work.

This is what it looks like when a freelance artist and personal shopper hang out.

I've addd my first charm style necklace which is 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' and it is one of my favourite pieces! had to take some of the products down but they will be back such as the Dorothy shoes, Cat necklace, Alexa, Twiggy etc.

I don't think I will be making another Brigitte Bardot necklace the same as it took me far to long to make this one, so this is a one off piece and once gone, it's is gone.

Happy 2012 everyone! I hope you all had a great night and first day of the year yesterday. I started the year as I mean to go on by having a lovely day with my bffl and evening at the south bank watching the London fireworks with it was such a good night, better then expected because I didn't really have any expectations, I'm not one of these people who thinks NYE needs to be some HUGE occasion. I mean well of coarse I like it and I don't mind others wanting to spend it the way they do but I prefer to do something 'different' or more experience based. Next year I really want to go to the blitz themed party, 1920s decadence or a comedy club. I'm not a going to 'town' and getting wasted type. I do like the coming of a new year though. Whether the previous year has been particularly good or bad, even though it's just another day. It's kinda of a chance to start a fresh, I won't kid myself with 'new year, new me' #vom but I strive to be the best version of myself that I can. Work on my insecurities, anxieties, build up my confidence, work hard, be happy and hope for a successful, fun and exciting year and maybe a nice boy to make my heart skip a beat.

Yesterday I pretty much spent the whole day at my friends watching films. We didn't get back til 4 in the morning after having a mission of the year (didn't take long) to find a tube station or a bus to Victoria. We didn't end up til 12. I also started a cleanse yesterday but by the evening I caved and had to drink a cup of tea because the headache induced by lack of caffeine was too much (I know this would happen as I've done this cleanse a few times) so I'm going to do it again exactly the same but have at least 2 cups of tea, it's not worth making myself be in pain.

Goals

Instead of inconceivable never to be achieved resolutions I'm doing goals for throughout the year, monthly goals, weekly (I won't share these all with you as they're be far to many and boring)

1. To be healthier, lose some weight, tone up and be fitter by my holiday to USA in September. Lifestyle change NOT a diet, diets don't work I believe. You need to be able to live and enjoy life. Need to start working out again properly, I use to love doing water aerobics and zumba when I did it regularly now I've fallen out of the routine, I need to get back into it.

2. Meet up with friends I haven't seen in way to long. Try to balance work and life better so can make more time to see friends and spend time with them, something I find difficult.

3. Save as much money as possible for project NYC and to make my future a reality. Everyone who commissions, or purchases a print or something from my jewellery shop you are helping and I really do appreciate it more then you know, good karma to all!

4. Read more books including, The Virgin Suicides, Great Gatsby, The picture of Dorian Gray, Great Expectations, A Christmas Carol, Breakfast at Tiffanys and Never Let Me Go.

5. Illustrate for more online publications and magazines. Such as Amelias Magazine, Lionheart Magazine, Flamingo, Ammo etc.

6. Submit work to open calls, enter as many competitions as possible. Even if I think I stand no chance, it all builds up portfolio of work and at the end of the day you never know.

7. Regularly do sketchbook work, practicing, honing and improving my skills.

8. Work on my writing, creative writing for books, poetry and small paragraphs, keep a notebook to write ideas and to jot any inspiration.

This picture makes me absurdly happy, genuine, belly, hearty laughter... theres not much better.

When I look back on 2011 in many ways it was actually a pretty amazing year in respects that I got to visit my most favourite place, NYC for the second time with my bffl and I went on holiday to Kenya for one of the best experiences. I've also been to some amazing gigs, theatre shows, fun days to london and brighton. But 2011 also brought some of the worst weeks I've ever had to experience with losing my Grandmother in October, it hit me so hard and I will still miss her with every coming day. I've met some amazing people this year who I consider to be good friends of mine now from the blogging world and I hope to meet lots of the ones I didn't have chance to this year. I've opened my Jewellery by Jaymie shop and have been working hard on designs and making pieces. In 2012 I want to learn more about jewellery making, maybe take some classes and practice with different materials and equipment, I've recently been talking a lot to Faye who is the created of Wired Jewellery (beautiful pieces that i need in my life!) and we want to have a jewellery making/ inspiration/ lesson day which would be incredible. I've also embarked on freelancing full time and entering the world of self employment, thanks to the support of my family and creative peers!

I decided that to summarise and have a roundup of the year, anwsering some questions inspired by my lovely girl Vic (she said it was okay) which she posted on her blog. If you want to know anything more or have any over questions don't hesitate to leave a comment or email me :)

1. What was your "2011" look?
My 'look' was still very much true to myself. Still full of contradictions boy meets girl, preppy rocker, prim and punk etc and it's no secret I'm a 60s, mod loving look fan. Pretty much always got my feline flicks and pink lips. My hairs changed a few times this year. From longer ombre, to dark, to shorter, longer bits at front etcccc. Seriosly considering growing my hair again and thinking i'm going to balayage once more. I

really want pink hair and to wear fun wigs, maybe my 2012 look...

Feeling the burn, remember when i got a nice nasty sunburn on my chest and back? Still got tan marks on my back from it...

Tried some new hats...

Experimented with different make-up...

2. Favourite store of 2011?

I've bought quite a bit from ASOS this year. They've been my all rounder shop of 2011, So many pretty dress, collars, shirts, shoes, coats. mmm love.

3. My style icon of 2011?

Constant icons of mine are Twiggy, Alexa Chung and Audrey Hepburn. I've also been coveting Coco Sumner, Audrey Tatou as Coco in 'coco before chanel' Fearne Cotton and Charlotte Free for her pink hair in particular.

4. What have you been listening to this year?

Mainly Foster the people, Ed Sheeran, Mystery Jets and She and Him.

5. Top 3 films of the year?

Submarine, Hangover part 2 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. There was so many film I wanted to see at the end of this year like Hugo and My week with Marilyn and I never got the chance, gutted!

6. Favourite tv series?

I really got into the new Pan Am series. Oh to be an air hostess in 1950s america would be incred. Can't wait to start watching 'New Girl' I love Zooey Deschannel and pretty much anything she in is going to be amazing.

7. Sum the year up in less than 30 words.

new york, illustrating, making jewellery, opened a shop, kenya, safari, fed a monkey, lost my grandma, left my job, started freelancing, met some lovely people. (if this makes you laugh don't worry... I chuckled at fed a monkey, lost my grandma. Laughter is the best medicine!)

8. Top beauty product of 2011?

Brow zings by benefit, my face isn't complete without filling my eyebrows in. The tail end of my eyebrow is lighter then the front bit and when I got them waxed and shaped a couple years ago she said i should tint them but doesn't last all that long so I can never be bothered really. I also bought Nars blush in orgasm when I was in New York and it is definitely a firm favourite, I'm a fan of pink hue blushes and that marie antoinette look haha. Oh and my sigma make-up brushes!

9. The 2011 smell?

Still rocking my jimmy choo and daisy by marc jacobs but i'm loving vera wang princess as well which I use to put on when I worked in perfumery all the time.

10. Moment that you will remember most from the year?

I have a few but generally most of them are from my trip to New York in feburary with my bestie and spending our time in radio city and outside of rock feller centre and then theres my holiday to kenya this summer, two big memories from this is my safari and seeing all the animals for the first time, seeing lions close up and the excitement, laughter and pain as we drove up to them and got thrashed about, watching elephants bathe in the watering hole outside our lodge and being about a foot away from an elephant when I came out of a toilet, amazing.

11. What I hope for the next year?

I want to continue blogging and enjoying it as much as I do now, working harder on my writing and providing interesting content whilst still staying true to what 'By Jaymie' is, gaining more valuable followers and readers who genuinely want to read or look at my blog or work. I want to meet lots of new people that I have been talking to the past year and formed bonds with and get to know them IRL. Continue to work hard, strive for my dreams and to have a very successful, exciting and happy year. More trips, gigs and traveling please!

I've been working on a 'Breakfast at Tiffanies' style charm necklace featuring iconic scenes or items to do with the film such as 'the kiss' in the rain, cat, the eye mask donned audrey, I also want to make a croissant, coffee and a mini tiffanies bag or box.

Some new pieces on the shop include brogue tap shoe necklace, dorothy slippers ring, white rabbit ring. Also made a pink Dr Marten ring, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn with that eye mask on, Dorothy and Toto and a New York skyline ring.

What's peoples plans for new year? I'm planning on going to London to see the fireworks as we had a few things to chose from but has all been bit up in the air. This is probably what I want to do the most as never been and may be the best year to do when its been so mild. Tomorrow I am going to rock the beehive and twiggy eyes like no ones business. Is there anything in particular you might like to see as an end of year/ roundup kind of post for tomorrow? If so please let me know :)

I don't think many of my friends or people I know IRL will appreciate it like I will, but even just the trailer feels me with inspiration. The music, glamour and the step back in time really appeals to me for a sense of pure escapism for an hour and a half or so.

1. Some pretty lame photos from Christmas but pretty much sums it up. I had a lovely family filled Christmas, full of laughter and good times. Sometimes that's exactly just what you need. Christmas in the O'Callaghan household usually involves waking up pretty early, this year rolled on downstairs at about 7.30 to open some stocking filler presents, have some bucks fizz and boiled egg and soldiers with my sister all accompanied by christmas music of coarse. Pretty much just spend the whole day eating, drinking, opening presents, watching tv, films, playing, chilling and having a cheeky nap. I got some lovely presents and some more boring type ones as well (I did actually ask for and needed them) I received some beautiful and inspiring books which I will share very soon, they're too pretty not to. If you've made a chrismtas post please link me, I would love to see how others spend their day and be nosey!

2. Who else has watching the BBC adaptation of 'Great Expectations' I love a period drama or a remake and I've been really getting into it, doesn't Douglas Booth just make your heart melt? I feel like such a cougar even though I'm only 2 years older then him. Tonight is the last episode and I feel that I now really need to read the book. I have never read any Dickens novels, but like most people have seen Christmas Carol more times that had hot dinners. Next year I'm going to start reading it from Novemeber onwards! If you haven't been watching it the whole series will be on BBC iPlayer to catch up with for at least a week I suspect.

Happy Christmas Eve y'ule (cue bad christmas joke) I hope these photos make you smile and feel all warm and fuzzy as they make me feel, the photo equivalent of chicken soup for the soul. How's everyone spending their holidays? I've been out this morning, I had to pop into town - not to shop, thank god. I had to meet my friend to give her an illustration she commissioned and because she was so hectic at work ended up waiting a little longer so I had to get a starbucks white chocolate mocha with soy milk whilst waiting (who knew soy milk tasted so good?!) I plan on doing as little as possible, eating, drinking, watching, playing board games and wii with the family. Proper traditional type stuff that we always do, It's what Christmas is all about :)

I only became aware of Bebe Zeva and her Fated to be Hated her blog about a month ago. Ever since I've become increasingly inspired and in awe of her playful style. Based in Las Vegas with a wardrobe full of her 'style savvy' mothers clothes and her own thrifted and sourced garments she really takes a theme and runs with it. Even when she's wearing pale pink, tulle skirts and florals she still has a 'kickass' kind of rocker look to her and take note she's a girl after my own heart with her 60s inspired Twiggy make-up, fashion crushing. 1. This weekend was full of festivity as you would expect with Christmas being so close. On saturday afternoon, I went to my friend Stuarts house for a gathering which involved lots of mulled wine, hot cider, gingerbread biscuits and the muppets christmas carol. Then yesterday I briefly saw my girl Sally to exchange gifts and watch more festive films (not watching anything else right now!) drank hot chocolate and ate chocolate orange muffins, so good!

2. In the week lead up to christmas me and my sister started a new tradition last year. We hang stockings from our bedroom doors and place a small gift in each others every night. So far I have received some PVA glue (really needed it!) a 'By Jaymie' stamper and some nail varnish remover wipes.

3. After being ill all last week with the flu and spending most of my time under my duvet, I gave into temptation and opened my presents that Emma had sent me. She's such a lovely girl and I really consider her a good friend, I'm so glad I got the chance to meet her this year when I went to the ldn blogger meet up. Definitely one of my new year hopes is to meet up more with the wonderful people I've meet this year and the ones I haven't had a chance to meet yet, such as Olivia, Ella and Abby to name a few.

I've not been well all week and still not really feeling any better. Pretty much been bed bound, so thinking may be flu... Currently trying to do any work that I can do online, social networking it up (tumblr, etsy, cartel, blogs) and watching Christmas films whilst tucked up in bed and hating my immune system. I've re-opened my Etsy shop with some items, I'm thinking my Etsy will just be a random 'By Jaymie' shop with some of my jewellery, art work, maybe tote bags that kind of thing and my Jewellery by Jaymie shop is just that... jewellery. Above is a new Twiggy necklace I've made, I'm thinking in the style of my header making a charm type necklace/ bracelet of icons. polka dot cup, lattes & hot choc

Creme Brûlée lattes, Marshmellow hot chocolate, Cream and haribo hot chocolate.

Recently got some little bottles of festive flavoured syrups from costa (praline, gingerbread, creme brûlée, caramel and hazelnut) they are amazing. I've been heating milk up in the microwave, frothing it up and then adding a shot of percolated coffee to it with as much syrup as you fancy! Only tried creme brûlée and caramel so far. Far to addicted to hot chocolates, with cream, marshmallows and my new addition of mini hairdos... which taste surprisingly nice all melted and warm. This is my perfect sized cup for such a sweet treat as it's about half a normal mug.

Mince pie & mulled wine at christmas craft fair, Naughty gingerbread (wo)man, Popcorn with festive films, Went to see Breaking Dawn - trouble with tickets (it's always me) Leather leggings and boots, Decorations in waterloo, Dazed and Confused exhibition, Tiffany shop at Somerset House, Winter Wonderland.

This week has been my first week of freelancing and I've pretty much focused on ticking of my to do lists, organisation, a new blog header, a few commissions, my shop and making new pieces. It's nice to have days where I can just focus on a certain thing instead of being all over the place. I've got such a sore throat at the moment (not a good sign) and my leg muscles kill from getting so cold and tensing up so today is about getting the house looking more festive, listening to the Glee Christmas album, watching Fred Clause, then this evening I will get more drawing and some document sorting underway.

I spent the day in London on Friday, after going to Surbiton first to run some errands and stopping off at Nero first for a cinnamon hot chocolate fix (Christmas in a cup) We went to the Dazed and Confused exhibition at Somerset house, the Christmas markets on the south bank and at covent garden before ending up in Winter Wonderland. The ice rink this year is just beautiful and there was an amazing guitarist singing in the centre, which made it all the more special. It was an absolutely freezing cold but crisp wintry clear blue sky kind of day, only mulled wine to warm me up in hyde park. Yesterday I met up in London with some friends to go for dinner in Leicester Square and exchange presents, got absolutely stuffed and London was just crazy, completely voided oxford street/ regent street at all costs but Lester Square and covent garden were bad enough. it blows my mind how anyone thinks its a good idea or a nice day out getting completely stressed and trampled. Oh and the Krispy Kreme snowman doughnut was blooming beautiful! I hope you all had a lovely week, what did you get up to this weekend?

Notice anything different around her? I designed and made a new blog header yesterday and today it took me about an hour to scan it in (my scanners being naughty!) to edit and upload, I had to increase my photo allowance, which cost a whopping £3.86. I hope you all like it! It pretty much sums me and the blog up I think, Audrey, 60s, Twiggy, Alexa, some of my biggest inspirations in terms of style, iconic status and people I love to draw.

Literally my most favourite purchase of this Autumn (apart from the onesie...) is my faux fur stole from H&M, I know they're as common now as the ominous 'litas' or 'allegras' in the blogging world but I couldn't care less, it's so versatile and adaptable, I've been wearing with my black coat regularly, jumpers and dresses. It's so much warmer then a regular scarf and keeps me feeling super cosy and that kind of grandeur, elegant, glamorous older ladies of New York that you spot shopping in Manhattan with bags upon bags of designer goods. Have you purchased anything recently which has become a staple in your wardrobe?

Today:

- Finishing and starting 4 christmas present illustrations

- Making a commissioned blog header.

- Creating scenes to photograph my jewellery against

Really rubbish outfit photos but I thought it may get me back into the swing of doing outfit posts. These were just taking on my simple nikon so when I can get my sister to take using her digital slr lumix camera we should be in business! Not an outfit of the day but one that I wore a couple of weeks ago when it was still dead mild and was way to hot wearing a coat. I love tartan scarfs, my adoration started for them last year, I have this green one, two red tartan scarfs and recently just bought a yellow rupert bear style one which I love!

It was my last day at work yesterday, so glad to be out of that place and have time to focus on everything that I want to but I will miss all my friends there. Tonight I'm going out for christmas drinks/ leaving drinks with them all and I'm trying to decide whether to go vampy (red, dark lips, smudgy simple eye makeup) or 60s bardot make-up (pale pink lips with smokey, feline flick eyes) Give me your 2 cents! Now I just need to get ready to go to a christmas craft fair which is just down the road. What are you all up to this weekend?

It's beginning to look a lot like christmas...

Happy 1st of December, start of advent and the official countdown to the most wonderful time of the year. Before work this morning (only got tomorrow left now!) we put our tree up and I started to decorate it whilst watching festive films. I love having the house decorated, something about it which just makes the whole place look happier, homely and warm. I'm a traditional kind of girl, red, green, gold, holly and lights.

Thanks for all the lovely and sweet comments on my post regarding leaving my job to concentrate for a while on full time freelancing and being creative to really push for what I want, you are all wonderful! I'm getting pretty sad now having to leave the people that I work in the department with because I love them all and they are great friends, I just can't stand the place and it's time for me to go for what I want while I can!

Check out my alien looking hands in the first picture... sick1zzzz. Some recent nail art that have adorned my lanky fingers. I love the disco ball look of the rhinestone nail, I don't have the best top coat which I do need to invest in, it looked amazing for the whole day until when rummaging in my bag for my oyster card I spotted a crazy coloured item inside and it turned out that the whole paint job came off in one swift movement, bugger. I'm doing my nails right now and this photo is my inspiration.

I'm also selling lots of lovely items on Ebay. Took advantage of the free listings this weekend. Many of the outfits you will have seen on this blog. I'm selling Urban Outfitters dress and playsuit, ASOS coat, Knitted chanel look cardigan and lots more lovely items, definitely worth a look. It's clothes that I still love but haven't worn in ages and I would rather the money/ space!

Made From The Stars: Breaking Dawn

To coincide with the release of Breaking Dawn last week Dee and I decided it appropriate to illustrate the two main characters for Made from the Stars. I found an amazing shoot of Kristen were she looked so glamourous and a lot more grown up, very scene siren like. I used mixed media consisting of watercolour, pencil and charcoal. I edited my painting of Kristen twice so on this blog post it is slightly lighter, which really makes the eye colour pop and alternatively it's more contrasted on mine and Dees blog. I love how Dee only used pencil to create the sketch of Robert as it really creates that rough texture. maybe I will use just pencil on one of my Made from the Stars illustrations.

Yesterday was all about seeing Foster The People at Shepherds Bush and handing my notice in at work! I went for it... I needed to for my sanity, piece of mind and to repair my soul haha. As of Saturday next week I will be a full time freelancer and self employed. I can't wait, It's exciting and scary at the same time. I have to register with the tax 'people' (clued up, clearly...) that I'm self employed as I will obviously still be paying tax. In particular I'd like to say a big thank you to Antonia and Cathryn for their email and tweet support with lots of information and encouragement, to go for what I want. And of coarse my incredibly supportive family who i love and appreciate dearly, without them it wouldn't really be possible (ah gushy..) I'm going for it 100% and want to really push myself, get experience and succeed. I'm going to work super hard gaining new clients, jobs, commissions, completing illustrations for magazines, online publications to really build up my work and repertoire of work, send letters and work out to agents, work on my business of jewellery really going to be expanding and having a massive re brand, lots of new designs and pieces on the agenda. So I hope you all stick around and watch this space of things to come, It's not going to be easy but I think it'll be fun and exciting, at times stressful and frightening but that's life!

I have plans for website and blog overhaul as well including new headers, buttons and hopefully some tech savvy html stuff! New features, more regular posting and sharing of work and projects. Is there anything in particular that I do now that you like looking at/ reading? Ideas for new posts or features? please leave a comment!

shape up or ship out

Not the best of photos of my new hair but I remembered just before heading out to work to take some on photo booth! I didn't have time to style my fringe as quickly washed last night and clipped back, so was a more middle parting kind of a day but managed to pose in a certain way and push my fringe together to give you a general peek at it haha. In the first photo you can see how short it really is apart from the two front bits, in style of the faux bob but for real as seen on Kate and Lauren (just not graduated at the back.)

Happy Frassy Holidays

Today was a good day... I made some new necklaces for my Jewellery By Jaymie line, finished two commissions and sent them through, had lots of interest in headers which I am loving making right for people right now, completed an illustration for the new magazine Lionheart first issue (If you haven't checked out the site yet, do. It's going to be a lovely magazine!) Had an email from Audrey (frassy) she has used the illustration that I did for her, for some christmas cards which I will be receiving some of some and she will be selling, also we've been discussing the commission and ideas for the bag illustration that I will be designing for Frassy Rags.

I had my hair cut last night, I know have a full fringe again, a la Daisy Lowe style, I also used this picture of Kate Beckinsale with her fake bob as inspiration, I wanted long bits at front but not graduated and once over it I'll just get my friend who did my hair to lop them off. We also drank bucks fizz and watched the lady in red tourettes video and listened to the most cringe christmas song byJustin Bieber... he raps. Oh my. I finished two commissions, watched the latest Pan Am and then settled down for the evening watching Gremlins, some things about being skint and on a variable spending ban (which I am) who'd have funk it, but I'm actually really resenting spending money at the moment apart from paying things off, I finished paying my Brother for my MacBook and anything else I borrowed off him. I've really been thinking a lot the past couple of weeks and I really want to just work for myself for a bit from home and concentrate on gaining experience, commissions, sending off work to agents and just really focusing on my artwork and jewellery, without hindrance of a job I hate right now, there's so much crap going around there, ah. In some ways want to do it when I don't have the obligations that others may have off owning their own house, kids etc. Anyone have any help or thoughts?

waking up in vegas

I haven't had much chance to blog since last week. I've had a lot going on and needed thinking time as well. Alongside my normal day job, I've some lovely Christmas commissions that I've been working on, alongside collaboration work. I also went to see Arthur Christmas on Wednesday, so had a particularly festive type day of eating snowballs, popcorn and Starbucks and on Saturday night, the girls that I'm going to California, Vegas and San Fran with next year, we all spent the night in Essex at a hotel for a special Viva Las Vegas night they were hosting to get in the mood early. Had some wine, lots of yummy food (obese nowzzz) some fun betting and a disturbing Tom Jones act. Oh and FYI that Mississippi mud pie was one of the best things I think I've ever ate!

I've just had a catch up with the first two episodes of Pan Am and I'm loving it. It's definitely filling that Mad Men shaped void within me.

Seriously already feeling pretty festive, with seeing 'Holidays are coming' advert back on TV on Saturday, listening to She&Him Christmas album and watching Elf. I'm all about wrapping up in faux fur stoles, chunky knits and cosy socks, I've recently been wearing less of my trade mark feline flicks and opting for brown smudged hues and lashings of mascara.

After having a tweet session last night. Fellow illustrator Dee and I have decided to join forces and do a collaboration project based on our love of the editorial, drawing pretty people and portraits of some of our favourite stars. I won't share to much as all will be unveiled very soon but it's a lot of fun and I'm excited to be working with her!

Anyone who knows me or frequently reads my blog will know that a book entitled 'Tea and Cake' filled with drawings is basically a book that is right up my street. I was sent a copy of the beautiful Tea and Cake by Hardie Grant Books last week. The colour of the book initially made me very happy, I love that pastel mint shade... so very Marie Antoinette, parisian-esque. It is illustrated by Emma Block. who I've been following on twitter and been a fan of her work for a while now. I've pawed over the pages of this book many times in awe of all the gorgeous illustrations and recipes, obviously with a good cup of tea... it would be rude not too. The photographs above are just a small selection of my favourite sweet treats on offer but there are also savoury delights to indulge in. I can't wait to try out some of the recipes for myself, being a fan of baking myself, especially in the Autumn Winter months. I will definitely be sharing any that I do make. You can buy your copy of the book from Amazon if you're similar to me and I know theres a lot of you who love tea, cake, pretty drawing, then this will make an ideal present this Christmas!

Touch my hand and make me shudder

Another new ink and pen illustration from my portfolio of work that I've been building up. I have so many different things that I am working towards at the moment, It's a bit overwhelming, daunting and exciting at the same time. I go through most of those feelings on a day to day basis. I'm working on getting christmas commissions in time to actually do them. I've got some pet portraits to do which I'm looking forward to. Cute pooches! I've also decided to make the most of people that pass through to the staff room at work on a day to day basis and made a poster last night and attached my business cards to it so they can rip them off, Who knows, it may work.

I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself (and skint) I've nearly finished my christmas shopping, which is frankly shocking. I usually start Decemeber. Don't get me wrong I'm not a last minute loser but I'm not usually this organised! I also treated myself to a new book, a festive read and The Craft Inc Business Planner to help me sort out another of my ventures really, my illustrated jewellery and bespoke items. So that and working, drawing and making new creations will keep me entertained whilst having nothing in my purse. Oh and Ebay (check out my items, pretty lace topshop cutaway dress to name a few!) and car boot sales of which I'm doing one tomorrow, not looking forward to waking up early though...
