The new Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to Catwalk exhibition at the Barbican Centre started earlier this month and runs until August.
'In the first major exhibition devoted to the celebrated French couturier, we invite you to explore Jean Paul Gaultier'sfashion world. With his avant-garde fashion creations and cutting-edge designs, Gaultier has shaped the look of fashion over the last 40 years. His reputation for witty and daring designs and a ceaseless interest in society, identity and a beauty borne of difference has earned him a place in fashion history.'
The exhibition is well worth the £15 it costs, there is a hell of a lot to see throughout his fashion career from more humble beginnings to extravagant celebrity collaborations with some of his favourites like Madonna, Kylie Monogue, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to name but a few.
With digitally enhanced mannequins which seem to facially react to the exhibition goers… which are as they sound, both creepy and hilarious. A wealth of video footage, photography shoots and the dreamiest of Gaultiers stunning underwear garments displayed.
