Time for Tea

Last Friday I went for Afternoon tea at the Sanderson hotel in London with some friends. I love a theme tea and this was a particularly great one 'Mad Hatters tea party' wacky type one with lots of Alice in Wonderland themed tasty delights. All the crockery and the way it was displayed was a visual feast and the hotel it's self is amazing and swanky... totally made plans to get a cocktail one summer evening there this year already.

First of all your chose your tea from the cutest, daintiest little potion bottles. I was pretty tempted by the amazing smelling Rhubarb and Custard tea but my common sense kicked in and I went for normal black tea (at the chocolate afternoon tea I went to once I chose a particularly bad tasting tea and regretted it) a musical box holds the key to the sugary sweet and reveals a tune every time it is opened. From the decadent offerings my favourites were definitely the sweet offerings of which the Tick Tock Victoria sponge cake and the Matcha Green Tea and White Chocolate Mousse which both tasted divine.

The Menu:

Savoury: Selection of different rolled Sandwiches and Quiche.

Sweet: Carrot Meringue on a bed of pea shoots
Strawberries and cream marshmallow mushrooms
Tick Tock Victoria sponge
Melting mango cheesecake
Matcha Green Tea and White Chocolate Mousse served in a chocolate tea cup
'Drink Me' Potion

Selection of homemade savoury and sweer scones.

Jelly Wonderland

Have you been to anywhere special for afternoon tea recently? We've already got our sights on going to the Pret-a-Portea and the Sex and the City themed teas.
